I want to connect HDMI signal/s to my Sanyo PLV-Z2 projector.?

Quesiton:I want to connect APPO Upconverter DVD HDMI signals to my Sanyo PLV-Z2 projector. I have a Pioneer VSX-AX10i amplifier. Can I go via the Pioneer amplifier? I am not too sure whether Pioneer amp can take the upconverted video signal. Any help will be appreciated
Answer:I think you need a newer receiver. Try the VSX72 and up. Your receiver is older and I am not sure if it has HDMI at all.

Home theater projector (sanyo-z2), having trouble with dark and light areas.?

Quesiton:My projector (sanyo-z2) performs very badly with any very dark or light areas in scenes. Dark areas just become a mess of completely black pixels, and very light areas just go totally white with NO detail whatsoever. This seems to be even more of a problem with dark than light scenes, in fact, almost every scene of every movie is ruined by the dark areas of the image going totally black, and the black pixels are clearly visible and visually separated from the rest of the image (the dont 'blend', not surprising as the pixels are discrete units after all). There seems to be nothing i can do about this, though if i turn up the brightness on my dvd player (a toshiba hd-362), the dark scenes get better and the light scenes get blown out instead. Could this be a problem with the dvd player? or is it the projector? anything i can do??
Answer:use contrast settings not brightness try all settings halfway

Which Projector should I get ?

Quesiton:I am down to a few
Hitachi HDPJ52
Epson PowerLite Pro Cinema 800
Sanyo PLV-Z5
I was looking at a few others, However I want the lens shift.

Any advice ????

It is a very hard choice

Answer:Hi,david it is a hard choice i agree and that is why it is hard to recommend a particular projector to someone. There are so many things to consider you need a good memory when looking for one .Ok so you have moved on from the last time i communicated with you.The three you have in mind look to be very good and have about the same features.
Looking at discount prices (this is only an example, you may get one a lot cheaper) Hitachi HDP J52 about $850 Epson Powerlite Pro-Cinema about $1,600. Sanyo PLV-Z5 about $1,067

BRIGHTNESS
Hitachi HDP J52 1200 ANSI Lumens
EpsonPowerLite Pro. Cinema1600 ANSI Lumens
Sanyo PLV Z5 2200 ANSI Lumens

CONTRAST
Hitachi HDP J52 7,000:1
Epson PowerLite Pro.Cinema 5,000:1
Sanyo PLV Z5 10,000:1

The Sanyo is the clear winner with the highest brightness and contrast ratio for the money.Next the Hitachi is the cheapest with the second highest contrast ratio .
Hope this helps.

Where can I download USB Drivers for Sanyo PLC-XF10N LCD Projector?

Quesiton:It's not easily found. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
The drivers are needed to control the features of the projector from a computer, like powering it on and off and other features available through the remote control and panel buttons.

The projector will be mounted far away from its image source and will be remote controlled by a computerized automation system.

Answer:You should not need a USB driver for an LCD projector, unless you are upgrading the firmware. If it is just for powerpoint or mouse control via projector remote, your computer should use default USB HID drivers.

Sanyo LCD Projector expert question re: replaceable lens and throw distance/screen sizes.?

Quesiton:I have a Sanyo PLC-XF10N and want to know if I can replace the stock lens with one that will project an image on a screen that is 23' W x 12' H with a throw of ~112 feet. If yes, what lens should I buy and where could I get one on short notice? I already sought assistance from Sanyo and they're taking too long to get back to me. Thanks.
Answer:That is a very long throw distance. I don't think there is a lens (that has an realistic price) that will achieve that size with that distance. You should be able to get the size, but with less distance.

As for getting it quickly…I doubt it would be quick or cheap. Good luck.

Sanyo PLV Z2 projector. Do the bulbs burn out instantly or slowly get dimmer?

Quesiton:
The image seems to be getting dimmer with time.
The image seems to be getting dimmer over time. I think this is an LCD projector.
Oh, and the best place to get bulbs? WIth five kids and over 30 months use now, I love the projector. It also displays in HD so no need to replace the unit.
Answer:It does get dimmer with time before failing completely. With the Z2 (and all Sanyo's, I think) you can display the number of hours on the bulb by pressing and holding the power button on the remote for 20 seconds. My Z2 bulb has 1800 hours and I've noticed a slight but noticeable dimming in that time.

You can find bulbs by going to froogle.google.com and searching on "sanyo z2 lamp". Should find one for under $300.
